เวลาดึงเจ้าเหมียวมานั่งบนตัก หลายคนอาจจะเคยได้ยินเสียงคราง หรือที่ในภาษาอังกฤษเรียกว่า purring ดังครืดๆ ออกมาจากลำคอของมัน แต่รู้ไหมว่า จริงๆ แล้วเสียงครางที่ว่านี้ไม่ได้มีไว้เพื่อสื่อสารและแสดงถึงความเพลิดเพลินสุขสบายเท่านั้น แต่น่าเหลือเชื่อว่าคลื่นความถี่เสียงครางของแมวยังมีประโยชน์ด้านการแพทย์ที่หลากหลายด้วย

คลื่นความถี่ของเสียงครางของแมวอยู่ในระดับ 20-140 เฮิรตซ์ ซึ่งเป็นระดับความถี่ที่ช่วยรักษาโรคและอาการบาดเจ็บต่างๆ ของมนุษย์ได้มากมาย ได้แก่ ลดความเครียด ลดอาการหายใจลำบาก ลดความเสี่ยงหัวใจวาย รักษาอาการเส้นเอ็นอักเสบ ไปจนถึงการซ่อมแซมและเสริมสร้างให้กระดูกแข็งแรง
